The Cambridge International Development Conference (Cam.IDC) is an annual event. For years, students, academics, NGOs and those interested in international development have been able to meet and exchange ideas at our conference. This is a brief summary of the previous Cam.IDCs:
Cam.IDC 2019
The Cam.IDC 2019 was held on 2nd March 2019 at Murray Edwards College Cambridge based on the theme of 'Faces of Equality'. An audience of over 100 students, professionals and academics gathered to critically discuss topics ranging from period poverty to peacebuilding to malaria prevention. Attendees witnessed a range of critical perspectives on the economic, political, gendered and environmental impacts of global development through a range of speeches, and two panels titled 'Equality in Global Health', and 'Women in Equality'.
Cam.IDC 2018
The Cam.IDC 2018 took place on 17th February 2018, at St John's Old Divinity School. Throughout the day there were two rooms open. Over 100 attendees saw 19 speakers, participating in 8 presentations and panels. There were speaker sessions by people from MSF, Porridge and Rice, Oxfam and Cambridge Global Health Partnerships. There was a breakout session: an independent film-maker and trainer showed clips and spoke about her experiences while Missing Maps community coordinators ran a workshop. There were two panels: "How to develop technology for the developing world" and "How useful have our efforts to better the world through education been?". Afterwards, there was a networking hour with wine.

Cam.IDC 2017
The planned 2016 IDC was rescheduled to be held on 18th March 2017, at Murray Edwards’ Buckingham House. There was a panel on Technology for Equality, a plenary session on Education in International Development, and a networking hour. Speakers included Tony Juniper (President of The Wildlife Trusts, Special Advisor with the Prince of Wales's International Sustainability Unit), Chrissybil Boulin (Founder of Merkabah International Foundation, previous Global Youth Ambassador for the United Nations), Christine Kim (Business Development Manager of Simprints), and Claudia Abreu Lopes (Senior Advisor to Africa Voices Foundation). NGOs at the networking hour included Camfed, Effective Altruism, and Afrinspire.

Cam.IDC 2015
Held on the 28th of November 2015 at John’s Old Divinity School, with the theme ‘Learning from the Past: Educating for the Future’. There were panels on Empowering Vulnerable Communities, Finance in Development, Community-Driven Initiatives, and the Refugee Crisis. There were 28 speakers, including Baroness Lindsay Northover (LibDem Principal Parliamentary Spokesperson on international development, previously Member of Council of the Overseas Development Institute), Mark Goldring (CEO of Oxfam GB), Rob Mather (Founder of Against Malaria Foundation), and Alexander Woollcombe (leads the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's team on Strategic Partnerships and Global Campaigns).

Cam.IDC 2014
Held on the 6th of December 2014 at the Cambridge Union, with the theme ‘Pathways to Development: Sustainability through Development’. There was a debate on unskilled volunteering in international development, and a panel on the Development Agenda post-2015. Speakers included Ann Cotton OBE (Founder and Chair of CamFed International), Eugenie Regan (member of the United Nations Environment Programme and the World Conservation Monitoring Centre), Robin Greenwood (Head of Programme Delivery and Operations for Christian Aid), and Mosharraf Hossain (Director of Policy and Influencing for ADD International).

Cam.IDC 2013
Held on the 7th of December 2013 at Cambridge University Law Faculty, with the theme ‘From Crises to Long Term Development’. There were panels on the Future of Technology for Development, the Politics of Long-Term Development, the Media and Development, A Historical Perspective on Development, and Impact Evaluation and Measurement. There were also workshops on Global Health, Academic Working in Development, and Syria’s Political and Politicised Crisis. There were 31 speakers, including Ben Shepherd (Associate Fellow at Chatham House), Jonny Gutteridge (Chief executive of Engineers Without Borders UK), Edward Clay (Senior Research Associate at ODI, led two OECD investigations), and Keith Virgo (Chairman-elect of the Tropical Agriculture Association).

Cam.IDC 2012
Held on the 1st of December 2012 at Cambridge University Law Faculty, with the theme ‘Ethical Development?’ There were panels on Corporate Social Responsibility, Youth in Development, Education, and Religion in Development. There were 21 speakers, including Rushanara Ali MP (Shadow Minister for International Development), Patricia Rogers (Vice Chair of the British Humanist Association, former Chief Executive of the Council for Education in World Citizenship), Dr James Smith (founder of the UK Holocaust Centre and the Aegis Trust), and Mark Waddington (CEO of Hope and Homes, previous CEO of War Child).
