The Centre for Global Equality Student Society (CGE-SS) is a student-run committee made up of undergraduate and postgraduate students from a range of subject areas from the University of Cambridge. We believe that global equality is a topic that is often left out of student discourse within Cambridge. We want to change this by creating a platform where students, professionals and academics across the university can come together to discuss solutions which tackle inequitable structures across the globe.
2020’s conference, ‘Rising Tides’, aimed to consider the ways in which inclusive, collaborative approaches may be taken to meet the challenges of inequality in the age of climate change. In addition to the annual conference, the committee also ran smaller events and collaborated with other Cambridge societies throughout the year.
