Chief executive, Engineers Without Borders UK
Jonny has been with Engineers Without Borders UK (EWB-UK) for two years, first as head of international partnerships and now as chief executive. He has been working in the not-for-profit sector for nearly 20 years, both in international development and in local community development in the UK, with a bias towards engagement with the public and volunteers and strategic initiatives in voluntary sector infrastructure. He began his career in IT support, volunteered as a 'voluntourist' in Tanzania in 1995, and came back to do IT work for Oxfam GB. From Oxfam he went to run a project for disability organisations in Nottingham and from there moved to Skillshare International where he developed the organisation's campaigning work and enjoyed involvement with the national Stop AIDS Campaign. Next he was back in Nottingham working on improving funding advice for third sector organisations but the pull of international work and commitment to developing a sustainable future for the planet and its people drew him to EWB-UK.
